"I just want to move on"

EMDR Therapy

You may understand what happened, but still feel stuck in the emotions, thoughts, or physical reactions that come with it. EMDR is different from traditional talk therapy—it helps your brain process and heal from difficult experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. Rather than erasing memories, EMDR helps "unstick" them, allowing your brain to store them in a healthier, more adaptive way.

Using gentle bilateral stimulation, such as alternating tapping or eye movements, EMDR supports your brain's natural ability to heal. Over time, the memory becomes less distressing, and negative beliefs will begin to shift.

How EMDR Works

EMDR therapy follows 8 structured phases designed to support healing, safety, and lasting change.

1.

History &

Treatment Planning

Together, we explore your life experiences, current concerns, and therapy goals to develop a roadmap for your EMDR treatment.

2.

Preparation

You'll learn about EMDR, build coping skills, and develop grounding strategies to help you feel safe, prepared, and supported throughout therapy.

3.

Assessment

we'll identify the specific memory, beliefs, emotions, and body sensations that will become the focus of EMDR processing

4.

Desensitization

Using bilateral stimulation, you'll gently process the memory and feelings so it becomes less emotionally overwhelming over time.

5.

Installation

Using the same bilateral stimulation techniques, we'll strengthen positive beliefs that replace old, unhelpful beliefs about yourself or the experience.

6.

Body Scan

We'll gently scan for any remaining physical tension or discomfort associated with the memory and address anything that remains

7.

Closure

To end each session, we use the relaxation and grounding techniques learned during the preparation phase to help you return to a calm state.

8.

Re-evaluation

We'll reassess previously processed memories, evaluate your progress, and determine whether any additional processing is needed.
